Duke’s OceanFest Opening Ceremony

In the enchanting setting of Hawaii’s sun-kissed shores, competitors and fans come together to witness a vibrant opening ceremony. Traditional Hawaiian music fills the air as graceful hula dancers perform, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the islands. The iconic statue of Duke Kahanamoku is adorned with fresh flower lei, symbolizing unity and respect. This festive spectacle sets the stage for the thrilling Oceanfest ahead, capturing the essence of Hawaiian culture and fostering a sense of camaraderie among all in attendance.

Na Koa Wounded Warrior Canoe Regatta

This inspiring canoe regatta at will feature a series of exciting races manned by the brave Wounded Warriors of America’s Armed Forces, along with family members and retired service members. Location: Fort DeRussy Beach.

Duke’s OceanFest and Shaka Tea are proud to announce the “Shaka Tea World Foil Challenge”.  A new sport quickly gaining in popularity, hydrofoiling is a captivating blend of physics and surfing. Come watch the best foilers’ in the Islands surf and fly over the waves at the iconic Queen’s beach. Limited to Six Teams of 5 foil riders per team.

Duke’s Waikiki Ocean Mile Swim

This popular open-ocean race along the Waikīkī shoreline attracts hundreds of swimmers ranging from Juniors, Seniors and Olympians. The race starts and finishes in front of Duke’s Waikīkī restaurant.

Each registered participant receives a Duke’s OceanFest Commemorative T-Shirt.  Awards and Prizes to the Finalist.

Florence Marine presented by Wai Kai Keiki Kokua Surf Jam

Keiki between the ages of 3 – 9 are introduced to the world of surfing and the vibe of a professional style surf event. This assisted surfing event at ‘Baby Queens’ is where the next world champion may get their start.

Each registered participant receives a Duke’s OceanFest Commemorative T-Shirt. All contestants will receive participation awards.

Florence Marine presented by Wai Kai Menehune Surf Fest

This special surf competition begins with the intent to help encourage surfing among Hawai‘i’s youths and introduce them to the Legacy of Duke Kahanamoku and his spirit of aloha. For many, this will be their first experience in the competitive surfing world.  Each registered participant receives a Duke’s OceanFest Commemorative T-Shirt!  Awards and Prizes to the Finalist.

  1. Past or current participants in HASA or NSSA events are ineligible for this event.
    Entries registered in awardable categories that are found to have participated in HASA or NSSA event will not be scored or be eligible for advancement.
  2. Menehune Surfers can only enter one age group and board type division, no multiple entries allowed.

The 135th anniversary of Duke Kahanamoku’s birthday is honored with a special morning ceremony, featuring the decorating of his statue with beautiful fresh flower lei. Location: Duke Kahanamoku Statue.

Come watch our Hawaii Lifeguards and Jr. Lifeguards from Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Hawai’i Island compete.

Surfboard Water Polo

Six-person teams will play water polo on surfboards, the same way Duke Kahanamoku, his brothers and fellow beach boys did in Waikīkī. Location: Kapahulu Breakwall.

Each registered participant receives a Duke’s OceanFest Commemorative T-Shirt.  Awards and Prizes to the Finalist.
